Pregnancies Affected By Genetic Abnormalities

There are many reasons that patients have to end a pregnancy that was planned and wanted. These can be for reasons of the health of the patient, genetic abnormalities in the pregnancy, abnormal ultrasound findings or unforeseen circumstances. Ending a Desired Pregnancy

All of our patients who are ending desired pregnancies are given options:

  • Footprints (if 14 weeks gestation or higher)
  • Genetic testing
  • Viewing the pregnancy after the procedure
  • Cremation services through an external company at an affordable cost

For genetic testing our clinic uses the lab Natera to send out a fetal genetic test called the Anora following a procedure if the patient desires. This lab will look for chromosomal abnormalities and a microarray test in the pregnancy tissue. Your insurance will usually cover this testing but if they do not there is a relatively low cost out of pocket option for patients. Results for the test return in 2-3 weeks.
